Abstract: Original Designation no. 486 (p. 339 40). Final concord between Abbot Richard and Alexander of Pointon whereby Alexander grants to the abbot and his men of Wrangle access, open often enough by night and day, beyond his Mere to the common marsh to transport their peat and fuel, although he is allowed to block the flow from the River Hestia to safeguard the summer water level in the Mere; Alexander quitclaims land to the common pasture and in return the abbot and men of Wrangle quitclaim to Alexander some adjacent land, retaining only their right to transport cinibar across it; Alexander further quitclaims to the abbot [?common pasture] pertaining to five bovates of land and the abbot quitclaims to Alexander the same pertaining to seven bovates. The parties agree that their meadows in the Dales shall be enclosed from the first Sunday in Lent until the time of mowing and that after mowing, unless either wishes to ditch his meadow, they shall return to common pasture, save the rights there of Alexander, Abraham de Ponte and Richard son of Bive as set out in their charters and in the charters of the Knights Templar. Any dispute will be put to local arbitration. Abbot Richard quitclaims to Alexander Alveva's Creek in return for a quitclaim on land in Wolmersty. The parties agree on a procedure by which the abbot's men shall pay dues with power of distraint to Alexander for trading in his port at Wrangle and in return Alexander quitclaims to the abbot the hermitage which the abbot has claimed pertains to his church and he undertakes to pay tithes on certain lands.
