Abstract: 166. Notification by Osbert fitz Hugh that he has confirmed to the monks his father's gift of the church of St. Augustine of Dodderhill in Droitwich, so that only he and his next heir shall present a parson to that church and that the first parson so presented shall pay 0.5 mark of silver annually to the monks, while subsequent parsons shall pay 20s., and after the death of Osbert and his next heir the church shall be converted to the use of the monks, saving the possession of the parson previously instituted. Abstract: Grant by Richard son of Geoffrey of Gunthorpe, in perpetual and free alms, to the church of St. Neot and the monks of Bec (Hellouin) serving God there, of the church of Hemington, for the spiritual welfare of himself and his heirs, and for the souls of Geoffrey his father and Ivo his brother, the latter of whom, with Thurstan the priest, formerly granted the church to the monks and confirmed it by his charter. The grantor enjoins that the monks shall hold the church for ever, as Thurstan the priest most fully and freely held it at any time. 1176.
