Date: The presumption that this charter was of about the same date as the issue of the sentence (no. 21) is consistent with the witnesses, for 1222-30 are the extreme limits of the tenure of mag. Matthew [Scot] as archdeacon of Cleveland, mag. Walter de Taney became archdeacon of the E.R and mag. John le Romeyn subdean by 1228, and mag. Walter de Wisbech was described as formerly archdeacon of the E.R 30 Oct. 1227.
