Date: Ratifications of this exchange between Quarr and Christchurch, both witnessed by Earl Richard 1, are dated 1161 Quarr Charters, p 46, nos. 181-2) but must also postdate no. 49 above, which makes no reference to it. For Reginald's charter in favour of the canons, see Christchurch cartulary, i, f 105, made on the settlement of a dispute between him and Geoffrey cle Insula. For the location of Tidelingham, see Quarr Charters, p xx, map 4, and for its earlier confirmation to Quarr, nos. 17, 42 above.
